About the project
As far as we know no serious attempt has ever been made to systematically map the subjective aspects of the evolution of the classics, by which we mean the individual histories and self-narratives of scholars who made substantial contributions to this scientific field in the 20th and 21st centuries not only in their own countries but first and foremost internationally. Our first objective is to create a database of interviews with classical scholars (Central Europe and Italy) in order to record a memory of that discipline and to sketch its possible future. The criteria for setting up the list of scholars are structured by the following categories: age, sex, centre/periphery, country. Our second aim is to bring together scholars interested in the reflection on the evolution and the changes of their discipline and to publish a groundbreaking and original volume in Routledge or De Gruyter.
